Scattering the bulbs through the lawn is very common in Germany, and the spring surprise can be very effective, as you know. Good message. I see the other comment is also made by a diakonia student. neat. jdJackie Dnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-110197701822420036.post-85165625691360753642013-04-02T00:50:27.284-05:002013-04-02T00:50:27.284-05:00I am thankful that Sunday School teachers and Past... I am thankful that Sunday School teachers and Pastors took the time and effort to pass along the ancient stories to me. I feel compelled to pass on those stories to our children today.
Yesterday, during Sunday School, we reviewed the Bible stories we've heard during Lent, via plastic eggs filled with clues such as: a perfumed cotton ball, a leaf, a bit of bread, a grape, an empty egg, praying hands, a bit of cloth, etc.
We had also decorated "Alleluia butterflies" on Palm Sunday. We had the children pass them out to our congregation on Easter Sunday as they walked back to their seats following communion. What fun! Then, to my surprise, several young ladies in their early twenties, came up to me after worship and said how very much that butterfly, handed to them by our little Sunday School children, meant to them!
Other observations I've had: As I'm in the Diakonia program, I've been taking sermon notes during the midweek Lenten services and also on several Sunday's during Lent. This practice has made me more aware of the message and how it applies to me, personally. I've also learned how much time, effort, study, thought, research, praying, etc. goes into a sermon and also into the worship service itself! I had no idea! This has made me appreciate our Pastor even more! She has such a passion for teaching and preaching and helping all of us to learn and grow on our faith journey!
I love and appreciate your observations on the little things: crocuses blooming, hopscotch on the sidewalk, an elderly man expressing his joy in the moment! Thank you for taking the time to share with us and for helping us to remember to "stop and smell the roses" along life's pathway. Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
